MPP Fraser calls on Doug Ford to pass bill that would make COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for frontline healthcare and education workers

OTTAWA - Ontario Liberal Health Critic and MPP for Ottawa-South, John Fraser, issued the following statement:

“For months, Ontario’s nurses, doctors, hospitals and families have been asking Doug Ford and his government to make vaccinations mandatory for all frontline healthcare and education workers. Instead, he’s essentially made every organization come up with their own vaccination policy, creating a patchwork approach that puts people at risk and wasted precious time. That’s not leadership.

Yesterday, I put forward a private member’s bill in the legislature that would make vaccinations mandatory for all frontline healthcare and education workers.

I think families deserve to know that the person caring for their loved one in hospital or in their home is vaccinated. It’s reasonable for parents to expect that the teacher in their child’s classroom has been vaccinated.

It comes down to protecting those who are vulnerable to COVID-19 – like seniors or kids under 11 who are unable to get vaccinated.

I’m urging the government to pass my bill or introduce their own legislation that will better protect Ontarians from COVID-19. The Ford government’s “wait and see” approach doesn’t work.”
